A powerful tool for change
There’s more to Asteri makeup than meets the eye. Behind every formula you’ll find the smartest clean and vegan ingredients; behind the scenes we’re championing change, from environmentally-responsible refills to women’s rights.
Around 70% of the beauty industry’s waste comes from packaging, so we’re working hard to make our packaging as low-impact as possible, and won’t stop trying to improve. Right now over 50% of our packaging containing materials from post-consumer recycled materials. We're working hard to make our packaging as responsible as possible. Our lipstick and brow pencil are refillable and all our carton paper is FSC certified.
We love the glossy, emerald-green bullet of our Legacy Lipstick so much that we’ve made it endlessly refillable – so once you’ve swiped it on for the last time, keep hold of the bullet, click in a lipstick refill, and use it over and over. It’s the perfect excuse to try out all the Legacy Lipstick shades, all while using less packaging and being much kinder to the environment. The Archer Brow Pencil is another one of those brilliant products that you’ll use on repeat, so we’ve made that refillable too – and we’re busy working on more refillable makeup products that will make trying out new products even more fun.
What goes into a product’s formula is just as important to us, so all Asteri makeup is vegan and made with cruelty-free ingredients , with any palm oil coming from a sustainable source and made using only ingredients that we consider to be ‘clean’. Importantly, that means no potentially harmful ingredients such as mineral oil, microplastics, parabens, sulphates, known carcinogens, carbon black and many more. Plus, because we’re all about being kind to your skin and our planet, we’re always looking for ingredients that are less likely to irritate the skin, and non-toxic for our oceans and environment.
One thing that you won’t find on our makeup labels, but that we’re proud to shout about, is our commitment to giving back, and Asteri pledges to donate a percentage of the profits from every product sold to charities that support women in Saudi, each chosen by our founder Sara Al Rashed.
“Growing up in a conservative society, I was fortunate to be supported by my father, who pushed me to be who I am today,” says Sara. “Shining a light on women’s charities through Asteri is one way that I can offer my support, and inspire other women to do the same. Women are the foundation of society, and empowering our sisterhood means empowering everyone that touches their lives. There are many changes happening in our society, with women increasingly taking on leadership roles, and it’s exciting to be part of this change and to support women to achieve their ambitions.”
